Community Day, 'Stuart Little' at Holmes

'THE BIG ADVENTURES OF STUART LITTLE' will be presented at 2 p.m. this Saturday, April 9 in Detroit Lakes' Historic Holmes Theatre. The show will be preceded by Community Fun Day activities at the Detroit Lakes Community & Cultural Center -- including arts activities at the theater -- starting at noon.

Theatre IV, the nation's second largest touring theater for young audiences, will present "The Big Adventures of Stuart Little" this Saturday, April 9 at 2 p.m. in Detroit Lakes' Historic Holmes Theatre.

From the loving heart of E.B. White, author of Charlotte's Web, comes this merry musical about a noble mouse who jumps headlong into adventures big enough to match any imagination.

By turns funny, tender and exciting, "Stuart Little" mixes child-size puppets with live actors to work theatrical magic.

Theatre IV, founded in 1975, has been internationally acclaimed for excellence as a theater for young audiences. The company performs live for nearly 2 million students, parents and teachers each year throughout 33 states and the District of Columbia.

On Feb. 1, 2002, Theatre IV's production of "Buffalo Soldier" was performed by request at the Pentagon to open their celebration of Black History Month.

There will also be a Community Fun Day at the Detroit Lakes Community & Cultural Center and Historic Holmes Theatre this Saturday, starting at noon.

Bring the family for pool and gym time and for various art activities held throughout the building.

The Art Masters program from Rossman and Roosevelt elementary schools will also be holding its People's Choice Awards, and the students will have artwork featured in the hallways.

Tickets for "Stuart Little" are $12 for adults and $6 for students, and can be purchased online at, by calling 218-844-SHOW (7469) or by visiting the box office at 806 Summit Ave.

Saturday's show is underwritten by Atheneum Graphics of Detroit Lakes.
