Alabama to headline 30th annual WE Fest
Back when WE Fest started in 1983, Alabama was the No. 1 act on the country music charts, and no one could believe that they were going to perform in a field south of Detroit Lakes at what was then an unknown music festival.
Since then, WE Fest has welcomed Alabama to its stage five times, including the 10th and 20th annual events. Next year, the legendary band will headline the 30th annual WE Fest celebration, set for Aug. 2-4, 2012 -- and "early bird" tickets are already on sale.
"When WE Fest asked Alabama to come back for its 30th anniversary, Randy (Owen), Jeff (Cook) and Teddy (Gentry) jumped at the chance to join the celebration," said Coran Capshaw, Alabama's manager.
"It is quite an accomplishment to have headlined the first, 10th, 20th and now the 30th anniversary events," Capshaw added. "It speaks to the significant impact of both Alabama and WE Fest in the country music community over the years."
A limited number of tickets are also available for this year's WE Fest, set to take place Aug. 4-6 at Detroit Lakes' Soo Pass Ranch.
