This weekend in DL: Shakespeare, Fat Cats, drive-in movie, classic cars and classic tunes

If you haven't had a chance to check out this year's Shakespeare in the Park production of "Romeo & Juliet" at the Detroit Lakes City Park Bandshell, you have three more chances to do so.

Performances take place tonight at 7 p.m., Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m. All shows are free and open to the public.

Also tonight, the Dead Beats perform at the Hotel Shoreham, and the Q5 Band takes the stage at the Holiday Inn in Detroit Lakes. Both shows start at 9 p.m.

On both Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, the Cormorant Area Art Club hosts its Art Show & Sale at the Cormorant Community Center. Twenty-five artists from the Fargo-Moorhead, West Fargo, Detroit Lakes, Pelican Rapids and Cormorant area will show their work. Artwork is available for sale; refreshments and demonstrations will also be part of the festivities. Free admission. For more info, call 701-893-1410.

Saturday night, the "Fair Hills Live" series gets underway at Fair Hills Resort, with a performance by the Fat Cats followed by a drive-in screening of the movie "American Graffiti." There will also be a classic car show, and if you bring your classic car, you get a discount on admission. Otherwise, the cost is $5 per car for the concert only, or $20 for the concert and movie. The music gets underway at 5 p.m., with the movie to follow at dusk. There will be concessions available; the site for the concert and movie is a short distance away from the resort, and will be clearly marked. Call 218-847-7638 for more information.

Also on Saturday, the Shadows Band will present "A Tribute to the 50s and 60s," with special guests Wayne Luchau as Roy Orbison and Jeff Boxell as Buddy Holly. Tickets are $23 in advance or $26 at the door; the box office will be open for two hours prior to the show. Call 218-844-7469 for more information.

There will be even more music on Saturday night, including Face for Radio at the Holiday Inn starting at 9 p.m., and Carmen the Cactus at Zorbaz starting at 9:30.

On Sunday, Tucker'd Out performs at the Richwood Winery, 27799 County Highway 34, Richwood, from 3 to 6 p.m., and Bruce Neumann & Tiki D perform at Lakeside Tavern in Detroit Lakes from 2 to 6 p.m. Mike Holtz of Carmen the Cactus will also perform a solo show at Zorbaz starting at 5 p.m.

Over at the ITOW Veterans Museum in Perham, Steve Howard and Phil Nusbaum will present a bluegrass concert starting at 7 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. The museum is located at 805 West Main in downtown Perham. Call 218-346-7678 for more info.
