Church to host military appreciation evening
Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church of Callaway is hosting an "Evening of Appreciation" for area military personal and their families. This is the second year that Beautiful Savior has hosted this program. The evening's festivities will start at 7 p.m. on Tuesday Aug. 14.
Curt Ballard of Ogema, a retired crew chief from the Air Force, is the guest speaker. He served in the Air Force from 1967-1970. During his service, he was stationed in the Philippians, Thailand and Vietnam. He will share some of his experiences during his years in the Air Force.
The Color Guard from White Earth will present the flags for the evening's program. Kim Schnitzer and Vickie Marthaler from Detroit Lakes will be performing some patriotic music. Anita Thorson will be reading her poem "Everyday Heroes."
Her husband is a member of the Army National Guard. Ray Vaadeland, from Park Rapids will be the trumpeter for the evening. Ray is retired from the Navy.
Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church extends an invitation to those who currently are enlisted in the military or for those who have previously served. The invitation is also extended to anyone who would like to say thank you to those who have served.
This is an opportunity for the community to come together and thank those who have served the country through their military service.
