Calvary Lutheran's Christmas Bake Shoppe opens Dec. 1

This year's Christmas Bake Shoppe at Calvary Lutheran Church in Perham will feature "Christmas Cookies and So Much More."

The women of Calvary Lutheran will sponsor the 17th annual event this Saturday, Dec. 1 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church.

A Cookie Shoppe will feature boxes of three dozen fancy cookies for $12, and a Snack Shoppe will offer coffee, tea, hot chocolate and treats.

Proceeds from the Snack Shoppe will go to Womanade, an organization that supports children in the New York Mills, Perham-Dent and Wadena-Deer Creek school districts.

A Bread Shoppe will feature Christmas breads, as well as "Calvary's Smakte Godt Lefse (Tastes Good Lefse)," made by Calvary Lutheran members.

A Global Mission Shoppe will have fair trade items from global artists, including jewelry, scarves, nativity sets, kitchen items and decorative home items.

Other shoppes will include: The Pantry, with jams, jellies and pickles; The Candy Store, with fudge, caramels and pea-nut brittle; The Card Shoppe, with napkins and cards; The Craft Shoppe, with homemade stocking stuffers; The Quilt Shoppe, with Calvary "Cut Ups" quilt creations of all sizes; and The Youth Shoppe, with fresh pine wreaths and a children's activity/craft center for ages 3-8 while parents shop.

"The community is invited to join in fellowship and preparation for the holiday season," said co-chairwoman, Mary Ringsven.

"Proceeds go to local, regional and global missions."
