Ventriloquist headlines ULTRA ‘Snowball’
Nationally known comedian and ventriloquist Ian Varella will be the featured entertainment for the ULTRA Snowmobile Club’s “Snowball” fundraiser on Saturday, April 6 at the Detroit Lakes Holiday Inn.
Varella’s juvenile alter ego, Alfred, travels with him in the trunk of his car, along with the various other personalities that populate his shows.
The son of two musicians (his mother is a percussionist, while his father plays the bagpipes), Ian began perfecting his comedy routines at the tender age of 10, while growing up in Dayton, Ohio. Since then, he has gone on to work as an opener for headliners including George Strait, Gary Allen, Garth Brooks and Reba McEntire, as well as appearing on HBO, Showtime, Comedy Central, NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” and “America’s Got Talent.”
He likens the art of ventriloquism to “driving a car at 80 mph during rush hour, while eating a Big Mac and drinking a Coke.”
Tickets for the April 6 fundraiser are $100 and may be purchased from any ULTRA club member. Dinner starts at 7 p.m., to be followed by Varella’s show. Please call Chris at 218-847-4930 for more information.
