Country music legend Neal McCoy will perform live on stage at Shooting Star Casino, Hotel & Event Center in Mahnomen this Friday, Oct. 25 at 8 p.m.

Tickets start at $10 and can be purchased by phone at 1-800-313-SHOW (7469), online at, or via the “Events” tab on Shooting Star’s Facebook page,

Neal McCoy was born in Jacksonville, Texas, and grew up listening to a variety of music and singing in local gospel choirs. His first stint as a professional performer was in a R&B band, before switching to the country music genre.

In his early 20s, he began performing at bars and clubs all over Texas, and, in 1981, won a talent contest that landed him an opening act spot on tour with Charley Pride.

After spending six years as an opening act, he decided to pursue his own career in country music.

In 1990, he released his debut album, “At This Moment,” on Atlantic Records. Despite his reputation for exciting live shows, neither his debut album nor the one that followed sold many copies.

However, the third time was a charm for McCoy, upon his releasing 1994’s “No Doubt About It.”

The album sold more than one million copies with help from its title track and chart-topping hits such as “Wink” and “The City Put the Country Back in Me.”

Most recently, McCoy released “XII” in 2012. Fellow country music stars Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert helped in producing the newest album. McCoy is currently on tour promoting the album with stops in Louisiana and Mississippi before arriving at Shooting Star.
