Live at the Lodge
The Lodge on Lake Detroit will host a free "Live at the Lodge" concert every Thursday through Aug. 27. This week's performance features a return engagement by pianist Kathryn Knuttila and acoustic guitarist/vocalist Andy Karg. The concert will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. in the hotel's Fireside Lobby, and is free and open to the public as well as hotel guests. There is no cover charge for the Summer Thursdays series. Detroit Lakes' first-ever Shakespeare in the Park production opens this Friday, June 26 at the Detroit Lakes City Park Bandshell, with a 7:30 p.m. performance of the classic romantic comedy "The Taming of the Shrew." Zorbaz 40th Birthday

Aviation historian Noel Allard will be at the ITOW Veterans Museum in Perham for an 8 p.m. lecture and slide show. His presentation is a dramatic account of events the night of Sept. 6, 1958 when a B-52 bomber, on a training mission from Limestone, Maine, with the objective to radar-bomb Minneapolis-St. Paul, lost flight control and crashed in Inver Grove Heights. Mr. Allard will speak about the immediate and later results of the crash and how 38 years later, in September 1996, he and a group of veterans and aviation persons established a monument to honor the deceased crewmembers. Moorhead's Hjemkomst Center opens its doors for the 32nd Annual Scandinavian Hjemkomst Festival, starting Friday and continuing through Sunday, June 28. The festival, which hosts roughly 6,500 visitors each year, will highlight Finnish culture. Vocal Music Camp
Detroit Lakes' Historic Holmes Theatre and the a capella group InPulse are joining forces to bring the first-ever Summer Vocal Camp to the lakes area, starting Monday, June 29 and running through Wednesday, July 1. Students in grades 2-12 will have an opportunity to work one-on-one with InPulse members on singing and vocal percussion techniques. Sessions for kids in grades 2-6 will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day, while workshops for kids in grades 7-12 will run from 1 to 4:30 p.m. each day. Cost is $45 per student.
