'One man orchestra' Todd Green to perform in Ulen, Park Rapids

TODD GREEN, a one-man orchestra who is accomplished on a variety of string, flute and percussion instruments from all over the world, performs at 7:30 p.m. this Saturday, Nov. 14 in the Top Hat Theatre, Ulen-Hitterdal School, Ulen. Tickets are on sale at the school office. He will also perform Friday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. in the Park Rapids HIgh School Auditorium.

Have you heard any good Middle Eastern Oud or Kemenche lately? How about South American Charango and Zamponia or East Indian Tablas or Santoor?

Intrigued? These and many other ethnic instruments will be played by multi-instrumentalist Todd Green, along with one of-a-kind custom built instruments like the "Swar Rabouditar" the "Guitarangi da Gamba," at two upcoming area appearances.

Green will perform at 7:30 p.m. this Saturday, Nov. 14 in the Top Hat Theatre, Ulen-Hitterdal School, Ulen, and again at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20 in the Park Rapids High School Auditorium.

Green has astounded audiences across the country with his diversity on a multitude of string, flue and percussion instruments from all over the world. His performance will be enhanced by digital samplers, which allow him to create a "one-man-orchestra" of unique and exotic instruments. As fascinating to watch as listen to, Todd intersperses his playing with entertaining explanations of the music and the instruments. Prepare to be amazed!

Green will also be conducting two educational clinics at the Ulen-Hitterdal School on Friday, Nov. 13, for grades K-6 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., and grades 7-12 from 2 to 3 p.m. The programs will be a show-and tell-type demonstration of the instruments themselves.

Both of these upcoming presentations are supported by the Performing Arts Fund, a program of Arts Midwest funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts with additional contributions from Minnesota State Arts Board, General Mills Foundation, and Land O' Lakes Foundation. They are also funded in part by a grant from the Lake Region Arts Council through a Minnesota State Legislative appropriation.
