Lakes Homes & Program Development, Inc. has been a part of the Detroit Lakes community for over 30 years, providing residential and program services to people with disabilities.

Three years ago, music therapy was added to the services being provided for their residents. Elizabeth (Livingood) Kelly, a Board Certified Music Therapist, is a Detroit Lakes native. She has created a music therapy program for Lakes Homes, which includes small therapeutic groups as well as two performance groups, the "Lakes Homes Chorus" and the "Dulcimer Dudes."

An amazing opportunity has been presented for this unique program -- a Christmas Choir Competition, hosted by Froggy 99.9. If the Lakes Homes Chorus receives the most number of votes, they will win $1,000 from the radio station, which will be used to expand their Music Therapy program.

Voting is easy. Go to, click on the Christmas Choir banner, and begin voting. There are four categories of the competition, Lakes Homes Chorus being a part of the college/church/community choirs. Voting is unlimited, meaning there is no maximum number of votes per voter/computer, per day. Voting started at 8:10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 10, and continues through Sunday, Dec. 16, at 11:59 p.m. The winners will be announced in each division on-air on Monday, Dec. 17, at 8:10 a.m.

Last year, Lakes Homes placed second in the college/church/community division. Even more votes are needed this year. Please support this program being offered in the community and vote.
