The "Diva of the Dakotas," Andra Suchy and her husband Andrew will give a concert at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for this celebration of the release of Suchy's Red House Records debut album, "Little Heart," are available by calling the Center at 218-385-3339. Admission is $12 advance reservation and $15 the night of the concert. Student admission is $5.

Suchy's boot kickin' style and soulful voice are in full force on "Little Heart," named for the river that runs near her hometown of Mandan, N.D. Her stellar songwriting and knockout vocals take center stage on these 11 tracks -- oh, and she plays guitar too!

As a frequent guest on "A Prairie Home Companion," Andra Suchy has made a name for herself singing with such performers as Brad Paisley and Emmylou Harris.

Raised by folk musicians on a beef and wheat farm in North Dakota, Andra Suchy began touring and performing at festivals at a young age.

The classically trained veteran of musical theater moved to Minneapolis in 1996, and has gone on to make a name for herself as one of the finest vocalists around.

Backed by a killer ensemble of musicians including Ketch Secor (Old Crow Medicine Show) and Dave Pirner (Soul Asylum), "Little Heart" is a tasty mix of infectious melodies and twang-tinged country, rock, pop, folk, and blues.

Exploring the country's small towns and backroads, Andra takes her audience on a wild ride of love and heartbreak, from the catchy opener "Libertine," to the pop gem "90 MPH." Her prairie country-tune "Little Heart" and her father's song "Georgianna" are standouts, alongside her bluesy/soulful rendition of Neil Young's "Helpless" and the album's energetic closer, "Come On In."
