Elmer’s summer dinner theater season expands
Elmer’s Texas Barbeque of Battle Lake will offer an expanded schedule for its popular melodrama dinner theatre season this year, as well as the world premiere of a locally-written original melodrama.
Following last year’s inaugural success, Elmer’s has expanded its dinner theatre schedule with shows every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night, June 10-Aug. 14.
The season will feature three different shows, including two 4-week melodramas by the producers of last year’s show, Fergus Falls’ Funtastics Theatre, and August dinner shows by the Wadena Area Madhatters Community Theatre.
All performances are held in Betty Jo’s Pavilion, located behind Elmer’s along Highway 78 between Battle Lake and the city of Ottertail.
The schedule includes the world premier of “Built Like a Brick Pagoda,” written by Battle Lake’s own El J. Arntson and produced by the Funtastics, June 10-July 3; and “Goodbody’s Gold,” July 8-31, also produced by the Funtastics.
“Prescription: Murder,” Aug. 5-14, produced by the Wadena Madhatters.
Individual ticket sales will be available in late April; groups of 25 or more can be booked now by calling 218-731-4837.
Auditions for “Prescription: Murder” are set Feb. 18-19, 6:30 to 8 p.m., Wadena Memorial Auditorium. Open audition dates for the two melodramas and for dinner servers will be announced later this spring.
