Kids Day at the Museum: 1 and 2 p.m., Becker County Museum, 714 Summit Ave., Detroit Lakes. Today's theme is "Plats, Plats Everywhere." Free admission; intended for kids ages 5-8. Friday, Aug. 17
Harvest Festival: 7 p.m. to midnight, Community Hall, Wolf Lake. The Miss Wolf Lake Pageant will be followed by a street dance at 8:30 p.m. featuring music by the Wolf Pakk Band.
Continental Divide Festival: 4 to 10 p.m., downtown New York Mills. Inaugural music, film and arts festival will feature a community corn feed, a large-scale street puppet pageant, steamroller printmaking, and a fire-eater mime show. Right after the Puppet Pageant there will be a free concert by the Cactus Blossoms, and a short film festival. All events on Friday are free. Harvest Festival: 9 a.m. to midnight, Wolf Lake. A 5K Run/Walk starts things off, followed by a pie baking contest, scavenger hunt, the Harvest Parade at 2 p.m., Mud Run, Finnish 5-card tournament, Lions ham dinner, and an 8:30 p.m. street dance featuring music by Rock Bottom.
Continental Divide Festival: 12 noon to 11 p.m., VFW Concert Grounds, New York Mills (north side of town). Erik and Pete Keranen will start the music off on Saturday at noon. They will be followed by Pocahontas County (old time and bluegrass), Tim Sparks (world music), Erik Koskinen (country rock), Caitlin Robertson (folk/ country), Elisa Korenne (Minnesota originals), Galactic Cowboy Orchestra (rock/folk), The Pines (old time/bluegrass/country), and Haley Bonar (rock/folk/country).
