Thank you Beth R., I've been beating that drum for months. The two golf courses are run as non profits. The courses don't even pay a property tax to the city. If these courses were leased out to some operating company for even $1 a year, it would be more profit than we are getting right now. Speak Easy pays the country club rent to use the facility and put on events, the city sees non of this rent income. Mark Holm the club pro runs his pro shop out of the facility, the city sees no money from his venture. Are the grounds crew considered city employees and we pay benefits on these people? People seem to think the country club is a cash cow for the city of Detroit Lakes. Wake up! Please contact your alderman and ask them about this issue.

I must have missed the part about which committee decides how much money our city is going to spend to keep running the golf course. I'm very interested to find out who and why our tax money keeps getting spent on a unprofitable venture.

I think Brad MacMaster should be on every one of those committees. Brad is the only person on that graphic who knows how to manage a profitable business.

Looks a bit like a good ole' boys network-funny how few women are in any positions of authority. Some things never change in Becker County.
