Cheyenne Norcross

Cheyenne L. Norcross, 28, of Ponsford, died Friday, September 25, 2009 from injuries received in an automobile accident near White Earth. Friends may call from 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29 until 7 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30 at the Naytahwaush Charter School in Naytahwaush, and from 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30 until the time of the services Thursday at the Pine Point Community Center in Ponsford. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1 at the Pine Point Community Center in Ponsford, with Mike Doll officiating. Interment will be in the Norcross Family Cemetery in Ponsford.

Cheyenne L. Norcross, 28, of Ponsford, died Friday, September 25, 2009 from injuries received in an automobile accident near White Earth.

Cheyenne Lovely Norcross was born to Richard Basswood Jr. and Joycelyn Norcross on Dec. 27, 1980 in Detroit Lakes. She was raised and educated in Ponsford, graduating from the Circle of Life School in White Earth, in 2000. From the age of six, she was raised by her grandparents, Margaret Norcross and George “Joe Bush” Fairbanks.

Since her graduation from high school, Cheyenne had been employed with the Northern Lights Casino in Walker, Minn., and most recently, with the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen.

Cheyenne enjoyed traveling with her grandparents, spending time with her friends and talking on her cell phone.

Surviving Cheyenne are her son, Aaron Norcross of Ponsford; mother Joycelyn Norcross of Ponsford; father Richard Basswood Jr., of Ponsford; grandmother, Mary Jo Basswood of Ponsford; brothers, Travis Norcross, Richard “Ricky” Basswood III, Dennis Norcross and Marcell Basswood, all of Ponsford; sisters, Melissa Warren, Tina Warren and Zee Gwun I Warren, all of Ponsford, and Jennifer Boswell of Minneapolis; as well as many aunts and uncles.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29 until 7 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30 at the Naytahwaush Charter School in Naytahwaush, and from 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30 until the time of the services Thursday at the Pine Point Community Center in Ponsford.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1 at the Pine Point Community Center in Ponsford, with Mike Doll officiating. Interment will be in the Norcross Family Cemetery in Ponsford.
