Paul Ferdinand Boyer was born to John and Ingeborg (Arness) Boyer on Oct. 9, 1919 at the family farm near Audubon. He was raised and educated in Audubon, attending country grade school at District 21 in rural Audubon.
At a young age, Paul started working with his father on the farm. He was united in marriage to Abbie Tignor on Jan. 4, 1945 at the Catholic parsonage in Lake Park. Paul and Abbie made their home on the family farm. Along with his farm work, Paul started working for Madison Silo of Detroit Lakes in 1960, and continued there until 1965.
In 1965, Paul started farming full-time. He semi-retired in 1979, and began driving truck for area farmers and lending a hand whenever possible.
Paul enjoyed fishing during his earlier years. He enjoyed chopping wood, playing cribbage, and watching his 5 p.m. Jeopardy, along with his late night Johnny Carson and Lawrence Welk. Paul was a man of few words, but showed his love with his quite smile and his hard working attitude. He was known to his many friends as “Bullet.”
Paul entered St. Mary’s Nursing Home in March 2006 and resided there until July 2009, before moving to Golden Living Center on Otter Tail Lake.
Paul will be remembered and missed by his two sons; Lonnie Boyer of Glyndon and Randy (Julie) Boyer of Moorhead; four daughters, Mary (Ronald) Hendrickson of Lake Park, Lola (Sam) Archuleta of Las Vegas, Nev., Deb Mattson of Lake Park and Stacey (Bernie) Rick of Pelican Rapids. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Amy Hendrickson, Kayla Walton, Justin Hendrickson, Lindsey McIntire, Nathan Boyer, Alexander Mattson, Mariah Hanson and Deven Rick; along with four great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Abigail, Morgan and Aiden; and one sister, Kaye Halvorson of Portland, Ore.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, John, Phillip and Randolph; and five sisters, Helen, Elizabeth, Angiline, Esther and Charlotte.
