LaVaun M. Braun, 70, of Detroit Lakes, died Thursday, November 5. 2009. Funeral services are set for 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9 at the David-Donehower Funeral Home, with Monsignor Timothy McGee officiating. Visitation took place Sunday, Nov. 8 at the David-Donehower Funeral Home.

LaVaun M. Braun, 70, of Detroit Lakes, died Thursday, November 5. 2009.
Funeral services are set for 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9 at the David-Donehower Funeral Home, with Monsignor Timothy McGee officiating. Visitation took place Sunday, Nov. 8 at the David-Donehower Funeral Home.
LaVaun Marie Braun was born to Gregory and Doris (Vizenor) Schons on August 14, 1939 in White Earth. She grew up and attended school in Detroit Lakes. She was formerly employed as a bartender, cook, truck driver and seamstress.
LaVaun enjoyed traveling, sewing, going to the casino and spending time with her family.
Surviving LaVaun are seven children, Jeff (Linda) Klobuchar of Audubon, Shelly Breitenfeld of Faribault, Minn., Craig Klobuchar of Detroit Lakes;,Wayne (Candi) Gjerde of Frazee, Sherry (Rob) Kneifl of West Salem, Wis., Mona Gjerde of Faribault, Minn., and Terrie (Floyd) Johnson of Bangor, Wis.; 17 grandchiildren, Chris (Missy), Chad (Tara), Cory (Karyn), Casey (Jenny), Noel (Alex), Robert (Ashley), Joe, Jessie, Dylan, Alex, Logan, Cody, Aubrey, Owen, Colton, Angel and a baby on the way; as well as seven great grandchildren, Taya, Courtney, Carter, Chad, Camryn, Carley and Caleb.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Theodore and Philip Schons; and six infant children.
