Lakeland Chapter 31, Disabled American Veterans, would like to thank all the generous contributors, to our clothing and misc. items collection program this past year. Some donated leftover rummage sale items, some used our collection bins at the VFW and American Legion Clubs in Detroit Lakes and the bin at Orton’s in Audubon, and some brought their donations directly to the semi trailer south across the street from Central Market.

Warrant issued for dishonored checks
A Becker County warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Fergus Falls man on multiple counts of issuing dishonored checks. Timmy Terrell Davis, 37, of 608½ W. Lincoln, Fergus Falls, was accused of writing over $2,200 in bad checks at various Detroit Lakes businesses in 2009.

Eyesores set to see change
More and more pieces of property around Detroit Lakes are getting facelifts and seeing development plans that will clean up blighted areas. At Tuesday’s Detroit Lakes Development Authority meeting, members approved a loan and tax increment financing for Trent Bartells and his Northland Portable Welding Company, which will be located in the former Pumps and Pantry site at Kris Street and Randolph Road, next to the Sand Bar. The property has been sitting empty for years.
