Laker girl strikers topple FF
The Detroit Lakes girls’ soccer team proved they are relevant once again in Section 8-1A. After losing to section defending champion and 2011 favorite East Grand Forks 4-0 at home earlier in the season, the Lakers were able to tighten their latest game up a bit, instead losing 2-1 on the Green Wave’s home turf.

HEIDI NELSON was a two-year captain on the Detroit Lakes girls’ soccer team.
It was one poison or the other for the Bemidji Lumberjacks’ defense, as each of Detroit Lakes’ seniors Joe Mollberg and Brian Labat teamed up to douse the home team 65-64 Tuesday evening. Early on, it was Mollberg’s quick 10 points which put the Lumberjacks back on their heels, and after a few adjustments to stop the DL guard, Labat took over in the middle with an effective inside presence to seal the win.
