An unfortunate roll of an ankle knocked the Detroit Lakes girls’ cross country team back about five slots in the Milaca Mega-Meet Saturday. Despite the loss of freshman and leading runner Abby Ullyott to a bum ankle during the Milaca race, the Laker girls still pulled out a 13th place finish, which was right in the middle of the pack in the Class 3A division.

Valerius “Val” Caspers, 91, of Ogema, died Saturday, February 4, 2012 at St. Mary’s Essentia Hospital in Detroit Lakes. Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Ogema. A Memorial Service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 8 in Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, with inurnment taking place in the church cemetery in rural Ogema.
