No major discrepencies in Frazee School audit 
With a few discrepancies noted, the Frazee-Vergas School District audit came back without incident.
Heather Johnson of the accounting firm Carlson Highland, which conducted the district’s audit, went through the audit with the school board Monday night, which questioned fairly little of last year’s activities.

Frazee boy cagers score first ‘W’ of season 
A strong first half paced the Frazee boys’ basketball team to its first win of the season with a 65-63 win over visiting Menahga Tuesday.
A 14-point first half lead was keyed by Cory Wokasch’s 15 points, as he finished the contest with 25 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and one steal.

Frazee High School student Myrel Schermerhorn, hospitalized after a car accident on Nov. 18, is not yet awake, but his family says he’s taking small steps in the right direction.

New Christmas Extravaganza event comes to Frazee Dec. 3 
New this year, sisters Wendy Ketter and Crystal Anderson decided to organize a Christmas Extravaganza in Frazee. Not only can people shop at over 40 vendors, they can also know that money from the event is going to help a local teenager and his family.
“After (the accident), we’ve decided to donate to Myrel Schermerhorn,” Ketter said.

Frazee gets high marks 
The Frazee-Vergas School District can stick not just one but two feathers in its cap.
While the Minnesota Department of Education dictates what grades will test in what subjects for the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments, overall the district is above average in science and reading. It struggles with math at the high school level, though.

Frazee-Vergas booster clubs get help with coaching costs 
The Frazee-Vergas School District is recognizing the need to assist athletic booster clubs with coaching costs and agreed Monday evening to credit booster clubs a per participant amount.
“Athletic fees were set to help the athletes,” school board member Steve Jepson said.

Karaoke winner to give performance in Frazee on Nov. 19 
When she won the TV singing competition “Karaoke Battle USA” earlier this summer, and subsequently took the world karaoke title in Killarney, Ireland, a few weeks later, former Frazee resident Cassandra Mae Jopp landed a recording contract with Hollywood Records and a chance at becoming the next big music sensation.

Frazee, Perham volleyball teams raise over $2,800 for Hospice 
The Frazee and Perham varsity girls’ volleyball teams raised $2,854 for Hospice of the Red River Valley in memory of Gaylene Smith.
The teams have a tradition of raising money at the annual Frazee-Perham match. This year’s match was held on Oct. 4, with all events incorporated with Frazee¹s homecoming.

NORTHSTAR CONFERENCE PLAYER OF WEEK Frazee’s Piper named Offensive Player of Week 
The North Star Football Conference has announced the Players of the Week Award winners for the seventh week of the season’s games.
For the East Division, Beau Howard (Pine River-Backus) was selected as the Offensive Player of the Week, Shane Fenske (Blackduck) earned the Defensive Player of the Week honors and Devin Strack (Pillager) was chosen as the Special Teams Player of the Week.
