A couple of comebacks fell short for the Pelican Rapids Vikings, as the visiting East Grand Forks Green Wave left town with a 34-21 victory Friday.

The steps of progression continued for the Lake Park-Audubon girls’ cross country team, as Jen Hamre led the Raider pack into the finish line to key a third-place finish for the girls’ varsity team.
Hamre raced for a 17:51.28 time, while teammate Ashlynn Strom wasn’t far behind in sixth place with a mark of 18:37.11.

The Lake Park-Audubon’s rushing attack was hitting full cylinders, as senior running back Chase Zeller accumulated 162 yards on 13 carries for four touchdowns, as the Raiders crushed the visiting Red Lake County squad 47-16.

SWIMMING Foster dives for 1st
After finishing in 13th place in the Class 1A state diving meet last year, freshman Kyley Foster is starting to pick up steam once again.
Foster won the Fergus Falls Invite diving event by collecting 347.25 points, a good 41.15 points ahead of second place Lea McNabb of Visitation.

The Frazee football squad gained its first win of the season with a convincing 35-0 victory over visiting Red Lake County Friday.
Hornet running back Cody Piper found the end zone four times, including runs from 18, four, 30 and two yards out.

LP-A VOLLEYBALL: Raiders fall short in ‘intense’ match
“It’s one of the most intense games I’ve ever been a part of.”
Lake Park-Audubon head coach Mike Summers’ description of the Raiders’ volleyball match against visiting Fertile-Beltrami was more than fitting, as the final three sets went into extra-point finishes.
Unfortunately for the Raiders, the fifth set didn’t fall their way, as they lost 21-19. The fourth set was just as close, with the Raiders coming out on top 26-24 in that match.

Hawley blanks Vikes
A sturdy wall was built on the line of scrimmage for the Pelican Rapids Vikings, as the stout Hawley defense stifled them with just 34 yards rushing in a 21-0 Heart O’Lakes Conference win for the Nuggets.
Pelican Rapids had just 74 yards of total offense, as the Nugget defense shut them out in every facet of the game.

The Lake Park-Audubon girls’ cross country team finished in a respectable fourth during the Pelican Rapids Invite Monday.
Leading the way for the Raiders was Jen Hamre in ninth place with a time of 17:58.59, while Ashley Strom was a top 20 finisher in 18th with a time of 19:07.01.

LAKE PARK-AUDUBON FOOTBALL: Falcons post big 3rd quarter to steal win from Raiders
A 27-point third quarter by visiting Fertile-Beltrami downed the hopes of a 2-0 start for the Lake Park-Audubon Raiders Friday.
The Raiders (1-1) couldn’t overcome the third-quarter scoring barrage of the Falcons after leading 14-0 at halftime.
The Raiders were limited to 130 yards rushing, while striking for both their touchdowns through the air.
