DL community garden is back this year

Despite the shorter spring and therefore shorter growing season, there will be a community garden in Detroit Lakes this year.

Located in the Detroit Lakes Industrial Park near the park by Snappy’s, there are 15 plots of 10-by-10 feet for anyone to plant in. The fee for the plot is $20.

The plots are on a first come-first serve basis, and the first meeting to reserve a spot is May 13 at 5:30 at the garden site.

This is the third year the community garden has been in existence, and it is open to anyone, regardless of gardening experience.

The city provides access to water, and plot renters are required to sign an agreement on what can and can’t be planted in the space. The main point is to be a good garden neighbor.
