Catholic United awards scholarships to local residents
Catholic United Financial, a not-for-profit financial cooperative that has served Catholics in the Upper Midwest since 1878, recently awarded scholarships to several local residents.
Among this year's scholarship recipients were Natalie Steffl, Callaway, and Detroit Lakes residents Emily Schiltz, Clara Livermore, Jesse Livermore and Emma Clark.
Since 1955, Catholic United has supported more than 4,000 of its members with scholarships to help defray the costs of tuition and expenses of post-high school education. In 2017, the association awarded more than $200,000, the most scholarship dollars given in a single year. Scholarship recipients range in age from 17 to 44 and will attend college, trade school or a diploma program in the fall of 2017.
