Evening prayer service
An evening prayer service at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, DL, is every Wednesday through August. Come at 6 p.m. for a light supper, followed by a gospel study or topical presentation at 7.
The Shoreham Chapel, Lake Melissa, service is at 10:45 a.m., followed by coffee and fellowship. Special music is by Brent Nelson. Everyone is welcome. The annual meeting will follow at noon.
Steak fry fundraiser
The 1st Zinger Squadron host a steak fry fundraiser from 5 p.m. until it's gone in the American Legion Club, DL. Cost is $9.
Sunday service outdoors
Lund Lutheran Church, Richwood Road, takes their 9:45 a.m. service outdoors, with Dan and Marilee Ottoson providing music. For more info, call 847-9662.
Helping Hands Mission speaker
Rev. Timothy Mundiah, senior pastor and field director of Helping Hands Mission in Kenya, speaks at 9:30 and 11:15 a.m. in Faith Lutheran Church, DL. There will also be a noon meal fundraiser for Faith Christian School. It is a free-will offering.
Gospel music concert
Standing on the Promises: An afternoon of Gospel Music is at 1 p.m. in the home of Gayle Laney, 19617 190th Ave Audubon. It is presented by Audubon Chapel. Coffee and refreshment provided. Everyone is welcomed. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held at Audubon Chapel.
Tamarac Wildlife Refuge hosts Beginning Birding from 2 to 4 p.m. Discover the world of birding. Learn the basics of bird identification, how to get the most out of your binoculars and experience some birding "apps." Learn 12 species and their calls. Meet at the Balsam Lake Overlook on County Hwy 26.
Old Timers Dance Club
The Old Timers Dance Club hosts a dance from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Rockin Horse Cafe in Richville with the Wee Willie Band playing.
Monday, Aug. 27
Lakes Area Birding Club
The Lakes Area Birding Club meets at 7 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes public library. Blane Klemek, DNR area wildlife supervisor and columnist for The Record, will be the speaker. Guests are welcome.
Tuesday, Aug. 28
Overeaters Anonymous Detroit Lakes Serenity Group meets Tuesdays at noon in the second floor library of the First Lutheran Church.
Tuesdays in the Park
Habitat for Humanity provides a picnic in the DL City Park at 6 p.m. each Tuesday. A concert follows at 7, featuring the Lakes Area Community Concert Band in the Bandshell.
The annual meeting for the USBC Bowling Association is at 8 p.m. in Voyageur Lanes, DL. All association bowlers are invited to attend the meeting.
AIS public meeting
A public info meeting on aquatic invasive species is at 5:30 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes City Hall. There will be updates from the Becker County AIS Task Force, DNR, Pelican River Watershed and Lake Detroiters.
A healthy Minnesota
