EAA chapter 1498
EAA Chapter 1498 holds a meet and greet at the Wething Airport at Detroit Lakes each Saturday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Aviators and aviation buffs are welcome. Come enjoy the coffee and rolls and listen to the countless stories from many of the pilots in attendance.
The Twisted Stitchers are going on the Art Leap. Anyone interested in joining us, meet in the Park Rapids City Parking Lot (behind Pioneer Park) at 9 a.m. For further information, contact Charlene Smith at 732-2784.
Scenic fall hike
Join the Laurentian Lakes Chapter for a scenic fall hike at 1 p.m. The hike will be about four miles long from the Elbow Lake trailhead to Hwy 113. Meet at the Elbow Lake trailhead, which is located on the Elbow Lake road 1.6 miles west of Becker Co. Rd 37. (Look for the Many Point Scout Camp sign)
Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Snellman, hosts a hog roast and silent auction from 4 to 7 p.m. It is a freewill offering.
BC republicans office
The Becker County Republican Victory Office, located across from the Pavilion at Washington Avenue and West Lake Drive, celebrates its grand opening from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Come to talk, pick up yard signs, meet with candidates. Refreshments will be served.
Sunday, Sept. 23
St. John's Lutheran Church, Height of Land, hosts a sauerkraut dinner from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Adults are $8, kids 6-12 are $4 and 5 and under are free.
Church fall supper
Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Callaway, hosts its annual fall supper from 4-7 p.m. It is a freewill offering.
Fall color nature photo
Tamarac Wildlife Refuge hosts a Fall Color Nature Photo Safari at 2 p.m. Experience autumn on the refuge through the lens of a camera. With the fall colors nearing their peak, we will travel by car caravan to some very scenic and perhaps less known areas on the refuge. Meet at the Chippewa Picnic Area located 3 miles past the visitor center on County Hwy 26.

The Odd Fellows holds their first meeting at 1:30 p.m. in the hall at 118 W. Holmes St. Visitors are always welcome.
Lakes Area Birding Club
The Lakes Area Birding Club meets at 7 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes Public Library. John Kelsey, a semi professional wild life photographer from Perham, will present a slide show of native Minnesota birds. Visitors are welcome.

Overeaters Anonymous, Serenity Group
Overeaters Anonymous Detroit Lakes Serenity Group meets Tuesdays at noon in the second floor library of the First Lutheran Church.
LP Garden Club
The Lake Park Garden Club meets at 4:30 p.m. in the Lake Park City Center. Business: preparing for the club's garden market from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. in the American Legion building. Fruit, vegetables and plants are sold, and a "taste of pumpkin" table to sample various recipes. Program: Jan Herfindal; Lunch: Marion Jacobson.
DL Library Club
The Detroit Lakes Library Club meets at 2 p.m. in the main meeting room of the Detroit Lakes Public Library. Larry Swenson will present a lively and fun program about coffee, tea, water and other beverages enjoyed around the world. All Library Club programs are free and open to all. Refreshments will be served by the Library Club Board.
Online genealogists of all abilities are encouraged to come and learn as Minnesota Genealogist Rick Crume shares "The 10 Best New Web Tools of the Past 10 Years" at 10:30 a.m. in the Detroit Lakes Library. It is free and open to all.

The ULTRA Snowmobile Club Fall Kick Off is at 7 p.m. at Soo Pass Ranch. New sleds will be available to view. All are welcome.
Harvest Moon weekend
Harvest Mon weekend is Sept. 28-30 in Vergas. Area businesses will have drawings and specials, a spaghetti dinner is from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in the Vergas Event Center and there will be karaoke from 7 to 11 p.m.

Parents with children birth to 35 months of age are encouraged to join the Detroit Lakes Early Childhood Family Education program at the Lincoln Education Center, for this free parent and child together class that will run Tuesdays, Sept. 25-Dec. 4, from 10:45 a.m.-noon. Children will learn valuable pre-reading and math skills, learn to make decisions and apply thinking skills through group and hands-on experiences when parents bring them to this free Early Childhood Family Education class.
