Job Corps to provide career training to students

The Hubert H. Humphrey Job Corps Center has launched a fall campaign to recruit new students, officials announced.

Young adults ages 16 through 24 who meet specific income requirements can enroll in the program at no cost.

Job Corps provides students with academic and career technical training, room, board, and basic medical and dental services.

Students receive classroom guidance from Job Corps staff, as well as career counseling and assistance in securing and maintaining employment after graduation.

Job Corps offers students Advanced Career Training options as well, making it possible for them to receive further training by enrolling in a vocational, technical or community college for no additional cost.

For up to 18 months after graduation, a career counselor will help students obtain employment and assist with other transition activities.

The Center offers a wide range of career training options for students to choose from, including culinary arts, medical office support and nurse assistant. Students may also participate in athletics, community service projects and the Student Government Association.
