Eagle scout provides new playground
Kids at Lund Lutheran Church are swinging high on a new playground structure.
Boy Scout Drake Halver undertook as his Eagle Scout project renovating and expanding the church's playground area. The old playground that he used to play on at Lund had become very weathered and worn over the years.
With the council's happy approval, Halver planned, investigated the cost, and organized a work force to build a new, safe and larger play area with additional swings, slides, and "fort" area. There were close to 20 volunteers who provided over 120 construction hours.
Vice President Julie Okeson of Bell State Bank (State bank and Trust) provided a significant financial boost to the project by donating her designated employer's "Pay It Forward" gift of $1,000 to pay a majority of the construction materials. Anderson Gravel also donated pea gravel for the grounds, and Okeson Offtrail Sales provided a skid steer loader for site preparation.
The new playground is now open for summer fun.
