Area singers invited to take part in veterans’ tribute concert Nov. 23
The Lakes Area Community Concert Band is planning a tribute to veterans and current military personnel at their Saturday, Nov. 23 concert.
The two vocal numbers they will be performing for the tribute are “Hymn To The Fallen” from the motion picture “Saving Private Ryan” and “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
According to Gene Gaffney, director of the Lakes Area Community Concert Band, both numbers were written to be performed by band and chorus.
All area singers are invited to participate in this very special event.
Lori Paakh will be rehearsing with and directing the chorus. She has set the following rehearsal schedule:
- Sunday, Nov. 10 at 4 p.m., First Lutheran Church, 912 Lake Ave., Detroit Lakes. Rehearsal will be in the multipurpose room on the second floor; enter through the west entrance.
- Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m., Detroit Lakes High School, 1301 Roosevelt Ave. Rehearsal will be in the band room.
- Saturday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m., Historic Holmes Theatre, 806 Summit Ave., Detroit Lakes.
The concert will take place Nov. 23 at 4 p.m. inside the Historic Holmes Theatre.
For planning purposes, all interested singers are asked to register with Lori Paakh as soon as possible by e-mailing her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A decision will be made by Nov. 1 regarding whether enough singers have responded to make this possible.
All registered singers will be notified of this decision by e-mail.
