Cormorant Art Show features area talent
The Cormorant Area Fine Art Show, held July 13-14 at the Cormorant Community Center hosted over 600 people from across the United States.
Twenty-five fine artists exhibited their oil, water color, and acrylic paintings, clay sculptures, Norwegian Rosemaling and pine needle basketry. The artists represented the communities of West Fargo, Fargo, Moorhead, Pelican Rapids, Detroit Lakes and surrounding areas.
Art Demonstrations were held during the two days of the show.
The people’s choice award winners were: Diane Crawford of Bemidji, first place for
“Fishyssoisse,” a watercolor painting; Jacqueline Anderson of Moorhead, second place for “The Black Sky,” an acrylic painting; and Sharon Gourde of Fargo, third place for “Yellowstone Buffalo,” an acrylic painting.
The peer artists choice award winner is Jacqueline Anderson of Moorhead.
Proceeds from the art sales benefit the Cormorant Community Center, fund a grant for art education in a local school and provide workshops for members and new artists.
