Military personnel to be honored; all invited

Beautiful Savior Lutheran Callaway hosts a program to honor area military personnel and their families.

The program will start at 7 p.m. on Tuesday Aug. 6.

The third annual program’s speaker will be David A. O’Connell LTC (RET) of Lake Park.

O’Connell enlisted in the Minnesota Army National Guard in January 1986 and was commissioned an Infantry 2LT in the Minnesota Army National Guard in May 1988. Upon completion of college, he entered active duty as a Chemical officer in July 1989.

O’Connell served in numerous locations including Germany and Afghanistan. O’Connell has received many awards throughout his career. 

He and his wife Kathrina currently live in Lake Park with their three sons – Sanden, 12, Liam, 10, and Esben, 8.

The Audubon VFW Color Guard will present the flags for the evening. Monica Winter and her children Cece, Marghie, Milo will entertain us with several patriotic musical selections.

The goal of the evening is to honor area military and their families. Beautiful Savoir Lutheran Church extends an invitation to those who currently are enlisted in the military or for those who have previously served.

The invitation is also extended to anyone who would like to say thank you to those who have served. This is an opportunity for the community to come together and thank those who have served the country through their military service.
