Bob Bodin of Moorhead is all ready for livin’ the dream after being drawn as winner of the 2013 Boys & Girls Club and WE Fest RV & VIP raffle at WE Fest on Aug. 3.

For the second year, WE Fest and Boys & Girls Clubs of Detroit Lakes and Perham partnered to give away a camping and WE Fest prize package valued at approximately $17,000 during the annual country music and camping festival.

The 2013 prize package contained a brand new 2013 21-foot Gulf Stream AmeriLite travel trailer, a WE Fest VIP music and camping package for 2014, and a lot of camping extras including a $200 Minnesota State Park gift card, a camp stove, sleeping bags, and other gear.

“We had another fantastic year working with WE Fest and all of our sponsors and volunteers,” said Patrick Petermann, the clubs’ executive director.  “This raffle event raised more than $44,000 to support after school and summer programming for more than 850 children at our Clubs in Detroit Lakes and Perham.”

In addition to WE Fest’s support, the event was sponsored by, KLN Family Brands, Lakeshirts, Midwest Bank, Pemberton Law Firm, Nereson Chevrolet, and Real Country 102 KRCQ.

Further, a total of 72 volunteers helped sell tickets at local events throughout the summer and at WE Fest.

“It is humbling to work with so many individuals that care about the work we do at our clubs.  The energy and commitment the volunteers bring to this event is what makes it successful. We are so thankful to everyone who made this happen – our sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who purchased a chance,” said Sue Trnka, resource development director for Boys and Girls Clubs.

Boys & Girls Clubs serve children between 5 and 18 years old daily during the summer months and every day after school. Club members receive help with homework and social skills, have opportunities to be physically active, can express their creativity with arts projects, be paired with an adult mentor, and much more.

The Clubs also offer healthy meals and snacks to members, serving a total of 40,520 in 2012.
