Youth ATV Safety Training set for May 20
If you're a youth over the age of 12 years old--or the parent of one--planning to ride your ATV on the trails this spring or summer, mark your calendar for May 20.
The Woods-n-Wheels ATV Club will be hosting a Youth ATV Safety Training at 8:30 a.m. in the basement of the VFW in Detroit Lakes, MN.
The online class is required--in addition to a classroom course and a riding obstacles field test--by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for any rider over the age of 12 years old to ride on the trails. A rider can take the course at age 11, but the certification will take effect when they turn 12 years old.
The Driving Skills session starts about 15 minutes after the completion of the classroom session and is held behind Oak Hills Addition (west of Junction 34 and 59) and anyone under the age of 18 must wear a helmet.
Contact The Woods and Wheels ATV Club before taking the online course for a reduced fee.
Pre-registration is required by May 9. For more information or to register, call Gary at 218-847-4868.
