DL man charged with felony car theft
Eric Clayton Nord, 32, of Detroit Lakes has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony theft of a motor vehicle.
According to court records, on Sept. 10, 2016, a sheriff's investigator responded to a report of a stolen Dodge Durango, valued at $3,500, from a Becker County residence.
The vehicle was found empty later in the day. Both airbags had deployed, and the driver's side airbag had been taped over. By removing the tape, investigators were able to get a blood sample, which was sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension lab for analysis.
On June 5, the BCA report came back, allegedly showing that the DNA from the stolen vehicle matched Nord's. He is currently in state prison, so a warrant has been requested.
