DL man charged with burglary
Alex James French, 18, of Detroit Lakes has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony second-degree burglary.
According to court records, on June 23 a rural Becker County man reported his home had been burglarized and he was missing two TV sets and a PlayStation 4 video game console. He told law enforcement that he believed French was the burglar, and he followed a vehicle in which French was a backseat passenger.
Law enforcement stopped the vehicle and in French's backpack they allegedly found a PlayStation 4 console, two controllers and cables for a TV set. French was arrested on an unrelated warrant. A witness allegedly saw French and a juvenile commit the burglary after they pried open a door with a screwdriver.
French appeared June 26 before District Judge Jay Carlson, who set cash bail at $2,000 and bond at $20,000, with standard conditions of release, or $40,000 without conditions.
