Detroit Lakes NARFE (National Active & Retired Federal Employees) Chapter 1842 Potluck: This postponed Annual Family Potluck Picnic will be held at Dunton Locks County Park in Detroit Lakes at noon. Sugar Shack Dedication: At 3 p.m., a proud group of the Friends of Maplewood will be turning over the keys to a brand new Sugar Shack building to the State Park System. There will be a short program reviewing the history of the Sugar Shack project, tours of the Sugar Shack, explanations of the evaporator and refreshments. Please bring a lawn chair.

Fall Meal: Turkey steak with all the trimmings and homemade pie will be offered at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee for this fall meal. Leather and Leaves: This motorcycle ride event starts at noon in the DLCCC parking lot. The cost is $20 per driver and $15 per passenger. Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. and the ride begins at 12 p.m. Door prizes will be given away at the end of the ride and you must be present to win. Taste of Lund: Join Lund Lutheran Church for this 14th annual event, which includes a variety of Scandinavian delicacies. Tickets to sample are 2 for $1 and there will be a bake sale. The event begins at 9 a.m. at the church.

Kevin and Eva York Benefit Dinner: Lake Eunice Evangelical Free Church will be hosting a benefit dinner to help with medical expenses for Kevin and Eva York of Detroit Lakes from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the church (12986 County Highway 15). The lasagna supper will be served for a free will offering. There will also be a farmer's market and bake sale that same evening.
September Dinner: St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Hawley will host a turkey dinner from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The cost is $12 for adults, $5 for ages 6-12 and free for children 5 years old and under. Local charities will receive 15 percent of the proceeds.
Sauerkraut Dinner: St. John's Lutheran Church (37425 Co Hwy 56) will hold a sauerkraut dinner from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults, $8 for ages 6-12 and free for ages 5 and under.

Stones Cry Morning Service: This special morning service will begin at 9:45 a.m. at Lund Lutheran (north of Detroit Lakes). A freewill offering will be received for Stones Cry, whose music is a blend of contemporary praise, worship music and familiar hymns. Tamarac Movie: The Animal House: From a small depression in the sand to an elaborate, multi-chambered tunnel- animal structures can be simple or architectural marvels. These structures are sites of great dramas and extraordinary behaviors. From owls to beavers, this film provides a fascinating look at the homelife of wildlife. The film begins at 2 p.m. at Tamarac Wildlife Refuge and runs about 55 minutes.
Lake Region Veterans Color Guard Fundraiser Breakfast: Scrambled eggs, pancakes or French toast and sausage or bacon will be available for $7 at the Detroit Lakes Region Club from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Community Water Meeting: This meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Essentia-St. Mary's in Detroit Lakes. The purpose of the meeting is to gather local input for the Governor's 25x25 initiative, which aims to improve our State's water quality by 25% by 2025.

Preschool screening: Preschool screening for 3-5 year olds for the Frazee-Vergas district is provided through Becker County Community Health Services.
