Perham musician Patrick Murphy has cut his third album and is back in Otter Tail County for the summer.

Murphy, who will be a junior at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn. this fall, just released an album called 19:03 PM Where I'm From.

The 2016 graduate of Perham High School is spending the summer with his parents, Tom and Betty Murphy, at their residence near Phelps Mill.

The talented teenager started playing a guitar at the age of three. His first album came out when he was 15, and his second was made when he was 16.

"I think that what sets him apart is that he has an amazing work ethic," Perham 7-12 Choir Director and Community Musical Director Nicole Mattfeld said. "He's always been interested in the tech side of it too."

Mattfeld was Murphy's choir instructor for three years and also directed him in community musicals.

"I was able to see his growth for a few years," Mattfeld said. "I really encouraged him to go to Belmont."

Murphy performs on both the piano and the guitar.

"He can sit down and play a song after hearing it only once," Mattfeld said, recalling when Murphy was one of her students at PHS. "He could sit at the piano and just play. It just flowed out of him. I don't know if I'll see another one like him in my next 25 years of teaching."

While Murphy plays with several other musicians in Tennessee he likes performing with just his drummer, Logan Richter, during the summer. He he has been performing in an arc between Fargo, Brainerd and Minneapolis. One of his most frequent stops is Perham.

"I like the universal side (of music), something that everyone can relate to," Murphy said.

Murphy is majoring in music business at Belmont and enjoys pursuing a college degree in Nashville.

"It's a fun city to be in," Murphy said.

His latest album of original music includes "Leave Me in a Heartbeat," "Corner Booth," "High Ground," "Road Block," "Rainfall," "Miracle for Me," "Rules of Summer," "Wait for You," "Way of the World" and "Where I'm From."

The album is on sale in the Wild Goose, Goose Gang and Nest as well as on all digital media platforms. Murphy's fans find out about upcoming events on his website.
