Detroit Lakes Christian Women's Club: The Detroit Lakes Christian Women's Club will host its monthly luncheon from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the American Legion Club at 810 West Lake Drive. This month's theme is "Flowers Bursting into Bloom," and the program will feature comedian, motivational speaker and musical guest Mildred Kelly of Rochester. Cost is $6 (all inclusive). Brown Bag Lunch: Gerry Schram will be presenting this month's Brown Bag Lunch program, "The History of Local Gas Stations," starting at noon inside the Becker County Museum, 714 Summit Ave. There is no charge to attend this event (museum admission is free to those attending the presentation). DL Cruise Night: Yes, it's the first DL Cruise Night of the season! Come down to West Lake Drive along the Detroit Lakes City Beach between 4-8 p.m. and enjoy music, shopping, food and beverages at our local restaurants, and an opportunity to view over 200 classic cars on display (weather permitting). If you have a vintage vehicle of your own to display, come down early and park your car along the beach for public viewing; there is no fee to participate. Heart O'Lakes Genealogical Society: The Heart O'Lakes Genealogical Society will hold its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Becker County Museum, 714 Summit Ave., Detroit Lakes. This meeting is by arrangement with the Becker County Historical Society. In case of inclement weather, there will be a radio announcement cancelling the meeting. Becker County Republicans: The Becker County Republicans' monthly meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes City Administration Building, 1024 Roosevelt Ave. All Republicans in Becker County are welcome.

TeacHaiti Golf Scramble: Come down to the Wildflower Golf Course for a fun-filled day on the golf course and help raise funds for the local nonprofit, TeacHaiti, which supports two schools in Haiti and provides tuition to hundreds of other Haitian students from preschool through college age. Flag Retirement Service: In honor of Flag Day, there will be an official United States of America Flag Retirement Service held at 7 p.m. on the Ogema city ball diamond. Garage Sale: Residents of The Madison senior living community will be holding a garage sale in the parking lot of Trinity Lutheran Church from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. A variety of items will be available for sale, including puzzles, books, clothing, furniture and other household items. The church is located at 1415 Madison Ave. in Detroit Lakes.

Tea & Coffee at the Museum: Join the staff of the Becker County Museum for a cup of coffee or tea, starting at 10 a.m., and join in an informal discussion of the history of the Becker County Fair! Talk of the Town: The Cormorant Community Center will host Josie and Matthew Johnson, owners of Johnson Performance — Firearms Sales & Service, Frazee, for a 9 a.m. presentation All Talk of the Town events are free, and coffee and cookies will be served.

Party in the Park: The Essentia Health St. Mary's Oak Crossing Family Council hosts its 26th annual Party in the Park to benefit the Oak Crossing senior living community from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Parish Center at 1043 Lake Ave., Detroit Lakes. Barbecue sandwiches, pickles, chips, beverages, dessert and ice cream will be served at a cost of $8 per person (you can add an extra sandwich for $1). Each ticket for the luncheon will be put into a drawing for a variety of door prizes, all donated by local individuals. Entertainment will be provided by The Front Row and Off the Wall Band.

Steak Fry: The First Zinger Squadron of American Legion Post 15 will be hosting a steak fry fundraiser starting at 5 p.m. in the American Legion Club, 810 West Lake Drive, Detroit Lakes. Cost is $13 per plate.

MACHE Homeschool Workshop: The Minnesota Association of Christian Home Educators (MACHE) will be hosting two concurrent workshops at True Life Assembly of God Church, 18330 U.S. Highway 59, Detroit Lakes, starting at 1 p.m. The "Firm Foundations" workshop is for those new to homeschooling, or in need of a refresher, while the second, "High School and Beyond," is geared toward homeschooling children who are of middle or high school age. Color Guard Breakfast: The Lake Region Veterans Color Guard will be hosting a breakfast fundraiser from 8 a.m. to noon at the American Legion Club. Suggested donation is $7 for a meal including scrambled eggs; pancakes or French toast; and sausage or bacon, plus beverage.

Weight Management Support Group: CHI St. Joseph's Health will host its monthly Weight

Management Support Group at 6 p.m. in the Benedict Conference Room at Essentia Health-Detroit Lakes. Groups are for anyone interested in starting a weight loss journey. Summer Caregiver Retreat: A summer celebration and retreat for Becker County caregivers of all ages will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Becker County Museum, 714 Summit Ave., Detroit Lakes. Come enjoy a meal, educational program and relaxing day with other area caregivers. There is no registration fee, but an RSVP is requested no later than Friday, June 15. Old Time Variety Dance: Cathy Erickson will provide the music for an Old-Time Variety Dance, set to take place from 1-4 p.m. at the White Pine Room in Frazee. A potluck supper will follow the dance. Admission is $5 per person.

Moorhead High School Alumni Gathering: There will be a gathering of all old Moorhead High School alumni and their spouses at 11:30 a.m. in the Detroit Lakes Holiday Inn. Meet in the bar area; participants are responsible for their own food and beverages. The gathering is expected to last until approximately 2 p.m.

Nondenominational Sunday Services: Services at the nondenominational Shoreham Chapel are held each Sunday at 10:45 a.m. through the end of the summer.

Tuesdays in the Park: Every Tuesday from June through August, Habitat for Humanity will serve hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, beans, potato salad and beverages in the Detroit Lakes City Park from 6 to 7 p.m. Following the meal, live music begins at 7 p.m. and lasts for approximately an hour, though some performers do continue to play a little later into the evening. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket, as bench seating is limited. In case of inclement weather, both the picnic and the concert will be moved inside the Pavilion.

Wild Wednesdays: Explore the world of nature with your child during this hour long adventure geared for 3-7 year olds. Meets at Tamarac's Discovery Center every Wednesday this summer, June through August, starting at 10 a.m. For more information please contact Refuge staff at 218-847-2641.

Plant, Pest & Gardening Clinics: The Becker County Master Gardeners will once again be hosting their Plant, Pest & Gardening Clinics throughout the month of June at the local University of Minnesota Extension office, 1120 Eighth St. SE, Detroit Lakes. Detroit Lakes Area Pickleball: The outdoor pickleball courts at Peoples Park in Detroit Lakes are now open for the season. Everyone is welcome to use one of the five outdoor courts, which are located just behind Zorbaz. They will be open to the public 24 hours a day, but scheduled play will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon every Monday through Friday, as well as on Monday and Thursday evenings starting at 7 p.m. In case of bad weather, play will be moved indoors to the courts at the community center. Tai Chi Chih Classes: Free outdoor drop-in practices for learning T'ai Chi Chih will be held every Monday and Friday through June 29 at the United Methodist Church Memorial Garden, 885 Pembina Trail, Detroit Lakes. Tamarac Wildlife Excursions: Explore Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge with a knowledgeable guide. Search for wildlife and learn about the cultural and natural history of the refuge on this two hour driving tour. Shepherd of the Lakes Sunday Worship: Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church (LCMC) is now hosting Sunday worship services in Suite 15 of the Washington Square Mall, 808 Washington Ave., Detroit Lakes, starting at 10 a.m. each Sunday. Fellowship with coffee and rolls will follow the service.

TOPS 1251 of Lake Park meets every Tuesday at the Lake Park Lutheran Church, with weigh-in starting at 12 noon, followed by the meeting at 12:30. L.A. Moms group: Lakes Area (L.A.) Moms is designed to nurture every mother. At our L.A. Moms group, you will have a chance to socialize with other moms, hear some great teaching, have discussion time and participate in creative activities. L.A. Community Alliance Church programs: Community Alliance Church, Detroit Lakes, hosts Quilting for Missions Mondays at 9:30 a.m.; The first Tuesday of every month is High Mileage (suggested ages 55 and up), which meets for "pot-blessing" meal at noon, followed by special music and a Bible nugget.

Bone Builders: An exercise class for seniors called "Bone Builders" is being held at 405 W. Maple Ave. in Frazee, Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m.; the Lake Park City Center every Tuesday and Friday at 10:15 a.m.; and also at the Vergas Event Center, Thursdays at 9:30.a.m. The group focuses on low-impact and balance exercises.

Alzheimer's Support Group: Meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 2 p.m. in the Yoga Studio at Ecumen Detroit Lakes.

Dunvilla Lions Club: The Dunvilla Lions Club will meet the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Dunn Township Hall.

The Caring Cup: Every second and last Wednesday of the month from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., community members who are dealing with the loss of a loved one meet at the David-Donehower Funeral Home for friendship, support and encouragement. The free program is open to the public, no registration necessary.

Women's Domestic Violence Education Support Group: Lakes Crisis & Resource Center hosts a Women's Domestic Violence Education Support Group every Wednesday from 5:30—6:30 p.m. in the crisis center. Call to pre-register at 218-847-8572 or 218-847-7446. Childcare is available upon request.

Rummikub, more games: Tuesday afternoons from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., come to Holy Rosary fireplace room for coffee, desserts and a game of cards, board games or Rummikub. Everyone is welcome.

BC Senior Meals: Meals for persons 60 and older are served several times each week at nutrition sites in Detroit Lakes, Lake Park, Osage and Wolf Lake or can be delivered directly to homes in these communities, Frazee and Callaway, via the Meals on Wheels program. One-day advance notice of attendance is required at many sites. Preschool screening: Preschool screening for 3-5 year olds for the Frazee-Vergas district is provided through Becker County Community Health Services. Call Annie at 218-847-5628 ext. 5419 to make an appointment. This one screening will provide your child the requirements for Early Childhood Screening. Minnesota law requires each child attend a health and developmental screening before kindergarten.

Senior Center Activities: The DL Senior Citizens Center has activities all month long. Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. is Pinochle; at 1 p.m. there will be 500 and other games. Whist is played on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. The third Wednesday of each month will be a celebration of birthdays for the month. The second Monday of each month there will be a Site Council meeting at 11 a.m. For more information, call 847-5823.

Bingo for DL Hockey: The DL Youth Hockey organization holds Bingo every Sunday at Zorbaz in support of youth hockey in Detroit Lakes. All are welcome; Bingo starts at 6 p.m.

Eagles Pinochle: Every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. there will be pinochle at the Eagles Club located at 112 West Holmes Street in Detroit Lakes. Members, guests and friends welcome. For questions call Gordy Martinson at 218-841-2940.
