Brown Bag Lunch: The Becker County Museum and Historic Holmes Theatre are joining forces to present a noon lunch program on "the past, present and future of the Holmes Theatre," starting at 12 p.m. inside the theater. Ecumen Charity Benefit: Ecumen Detroit Lakes will host a charity benefit from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Long Bridge Bar, Grill & Marina. Color Guard Breakfast: The Lake Region Veterans Color Guard will be hosting a breakfast fundraiser from 8 a.m. to noon at the American Legion Club. Suggested donation is $7 for a meal including scrambled eggs; pancakes or French toast; and sausage or bacon, plus beverage.

Sauerkraut Dinner: St. John’s Lutheran Church-Height of Land will host its annual sauerkraut dinner from 11 a.m. to 1;30 p.m., featuring homemade sauerkraut with pork, potatoes, vegetables, bread and dessert. Admission is a free will donation, with proceeds to go toward construction of the church’s new fellowship hall.

Free Movie Screening: A free screening of the movie, "American Experience, Ansel Adams" will take place at 2 p.m. in the Visitor Center at Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge. Perhaps no one person has had a more profound impact on how Americans grasp the majesty of their continent, or done more to transform how people think and feel about the meaning of the natural world than photographer Ansel Adams. This 100-minute film is an intimate portrait of a great artist and ardent environmentalist. Fall Chicken Dinner: St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Lake Park will host its annual fall chicken dinner from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The church is located at 2066 Second St. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-12 and free to children of preschool age and younger. There will be a bake sale, craft items, and a fried chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, salads, desserts and beverages. September Turkey Dinner: St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Hawley will host a turkey dinner with all the trimmings from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Cost is $12 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-12 and free to all kids of preschool age and younger. The church will donate 15 percent of all proceeds to local charities.

Gordy Lindquist Piano Concert: Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills (not Detroit Lakes) will host a piano concert by retired NDSU music professor Gordy "Crazy Fingers" Lindquist at 7 p.m. The church is located at 424 E. Gilman St., New York Mills. Though there is no charge for the concert, attendees are asked to make a donation of diapers in any size to help support The Perry Center in Fargo, which helps women going through an unplanned pregnancy by providing for her physical, emotional and spiritual needs throughout the birthing process, in a residential setting. Fall Bazaar: Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee will host its Fall Bazaar starting at 10 a.m., with a turkey steak dinner — including homemade pie for dessert! — to be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will also be baked goods, produce, baby quilts and lap robes available for purchase. Take-out boxes are also available for those unable to attend the lunch in person — to be delivered the day of the event, within Frazee city limits only. North Country Trail Hike: Sept. 22 at 1:00 pm. Meet at 1 p.m. in front of the Greenwater NCT trailhead for a trail dedication in memory of Ruth Bergquist, a longtime dedicated Laurentian Lakes member. A three mile hike will follow the dedication. Taste of Lund: The congregation of Lund Lutheran Church will host its 15th annual Taste of Lund festival starting at 9 a.m. Enjoy Scandinavian delicacies including lefse, lutefisk, rommegrot, sandbakkels, crepes, Swedish almond cakes, rosettes, krumkake and more. Tickets are $1 per sample. There will also be a bake sale. The church is located nine miles north of Detroit Lakes on Richwood Road.

Special Movie Screening: Odyssey Entertainment will host a one-time special screening of the movie "This Day Forward," including a meet and greet with the movie's director, Brian Ide and one of its stars, Jennifer Jensen, showing of the movie and a brief question-and-answer session, at the CineMagic Washington Square 7 Theatre in Detroit Lakes. The festivities start at 6:15 p.m., with the movie screening at 7 p.m. and Q & A at 8:40 p.m. Regular movie prices apply.

Blood Screening: The Detroit Lakes Noon Rotary Club will host a blood screening at Essentia Health St. Mary’s from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. daily on Sept. 10-14, in the St. Mary’s EMS Building at 225 Park St., Detroit Lakes. No pre-registration is necessary; cost is $25 per person.

DLHS Class of 1966 Reunion: The Detroit Lakes High School Class of 1966 will host its 52nd Class Reunion on Sept. 21-22 in Detroit Lakes. Events include a Friday, Sept. 21 gathering at Shorewood Pub, and a second get-together on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Detroit Country Club. Both events start at 5 p.m., and will cost $10 per person, which includes buffet-style appetizers (drinks must be purchased separately). Powerful Tools for Caregivers: Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota is starting a new class, "Powerful Tools for Caregivers," on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at Lakes Area Vineyard Church in Detroit Lakes. Detroit Lakes Area Pickleball: The outdoor pickleball courts at Peoples Park in Detroit Lakes

BC Senior Meals: Meals for persons 60 and older are served several times each week at nutrition sites in Detroit Lakes, Lake Park, Osage and Wolf Lake or can be delivered directly to homes in these communities, Frazee and Callaway, via the Meals on Wheels program. Preschool screening: Preschool screening for 3-5 year olds for the Frazee-Vergas district is provided through Becker County Community Health Services. Minnesota law requires each child attend a health and developmental screening before kindergarten.

Senior Center Activities: The DL Senior Citizens Center has activities all month long. Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. is Pinochle; at 1 p.m. there will be 500 and other games. Whist is played on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. The third Wednesday of each month will be a celebration of birthdays for the month. Bingo for DL Hockey: The DL Youth Hockey organization holds Bingo every Sunday at Zorbaz in support of youth hockey in Detroit Lakes. All are welcome; Bingo starts at 6 p.m.
