DL man accused of stealing and selling van
Andrew James Varno, 20, of Detroit Lakes has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony receiving stolen property.
According to court records, on Oct. 31 a Becker County man reported his gray van had been stolen. The next day, a sheriff's investigator located the van at a Detroit Lakes business. Varno had allegedly sold the van to the business, and he was arrested that same day when he returned to the business with more items to sell.
Varno allegedly told the investigator he had sold the van for a friend who needed the money but didn't have a driver's license. The van owner said he had not given anyone permission to take the vehicle.
On Nov. 2, Varno appeared before District Judge Barb Hanson, who set cash bail at $500 or bond at $3,000, with conditions, or bond at $10,000 without standard conditions of release.
