Helen Agnes Kaliban Fisher, 85

Helen Agnes Kaliban Fisher, 85, of Two Inlets died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007 at her home.

She was born Sept. 26, 1922 to Lewis and Matilda (Pfeifer) Wattenhofer in Ponsford. At age 6, she moved with her family to Two Inlets. At age 14, she graduated from Dist. 118 grade school then from St. Francis High School in Little Falls May 30, 1940. She entered the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls. She attended the College of St. Theresa at Winona as an undergraduate of music education and English, Loyola University at Chicago, IL majoring in religious education, St. Joseph's College at Rensselaer, IN receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in Liturgical Music June 2, 1968, Marquette University at Milwaukee, WI studying the French language and the Public University of Quebec studying French. She held three master's degrees.

She taught music, French and religion at St. Francis High School in Little Falls from 1946 to 1972. She worked in the religious education department of the St. Cloud Diocese and at Our Lady of Victory in Fergus Falls where she was the director of liturgy. She left the Franciscans in 1972, moved to Marion, IA and served as director of liturgy. She then moved to Lisbon, IA and served in the area of education and as director of music.

She married Milo Kaliban June 5, 1976 in Lisbon, IA. They moved to Two Inlets in 1982.

She married Elmer Fisher Dec. 30, 1994 in Park Rapids.

She provided music for several Catholic churches, including St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church of Park Rapids, St. Mary's Catholic Church of Two Inlets, St. Theodore's Catholic Church of Ponsford and Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church of Nevis. She served as church pianist, choir director, organist or music director.

She is survived by two sisters, Marilyn (Tim) Willenbring of Ponsford and Ann (Eric) Paulsen of West Fargo; two brothers, Raymond (Eldora) of Two Inlets and Robert (Marilyn); numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Mylo in 1982 and Elmer Jan. 31, 2006; and a brother, Lewis.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. today (Saturday) at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with Fathers Dennis Wieland, Mietek Bajek, OMI and Jan Klimek officiating.

Active casketbearers: Raymond Jr., Ronnie, Robert and Rodney Wattenhofer, Jerry and Ron Kern.

Interment: St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Two Inlets.
