Lotis Floy Jackson

Lotis Floy Jackson, 87, of Colfax, Wis., formerly of Lake George, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009 at Colfax Health & Rehab Center.

She was born Sept. 12, 1921 in Carlton to Royce and Mabel (Peterson) White. As a young girl she moved with her family to a farm in the Becida-Laporte area just south of Bemidji. She attended country school in the same area.

On Oct. 1, 1942 she married Thomas "Ted" Theodore Jackson in Bemidji just before his being shipped to the European Theatre of WW II. They had a son and four daughters. Following the war, she and her husband moved with their family to Forest River, N.D. They made their home in several North Dakota communities before returning to Minnesota in 1961 where they made their home in Minneapolis. In 1969 they moved to Lake George, where they built the Bushwhacker Café, which they operated until the mid-1970s.

She was a long time member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George, where she worked with the ladies circles. Her husband died in 1996. Due to Alzheimer's disease, she became a resident of the Area Nursing Home in Colfax, Wis., in June of 2001.

She is survived by her son, Duane (Cindy), of Commerce City, Colo.; four daughters: Deanna Anderson, of Lewisville, Texas, Denise (John) Larkey, of Garrison, Deborah (Larry) Stobb, of Elk Mound, Wis., and Darlene Gross, of St. Cloud; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her grandson, Darren Anderson, in November of 2008; three brothers: Carlyle, Devere and Harlan; and four sisters: Floris, Arlene, Juanita and Betty.

Casket bearers: Brian, Brad and Brody Lang, Michael Sabby, Frank Gross and Jason Bassett.

Honorary casket bearers: the late Darren Anderson, Thomas "Todd" and Troy Jackson, William, Regina, Melissa and Cindy Gross, Sheila Martin, LaVeda Moffit, Deidre Aramanda and Michelle Thell.

Funeral service: 1 p.m. today (Saturday), Feb. 7 at Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, with her nephew Rev. Kent Dudley officiating. He will also provide the special music.

Visitation: 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Interment: Next to her husband in the Lake George Cemetery, Lake George.
