Girl cagers flatten Wolverines 73-32

The Detroit Lakes' girls' basketball team landed on both feet and took out some frustration from their second loss of the season Tuesday against Fergus Falls on the visiting Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines Friday night.

The Lakers remained unscathed in the Mid-State Conference by slamming the Wolverines 73-32. DL improves to 6-0 in the conference and 16-2 overall after Fergus Falls snapped an 11-game winning streak Tuesday.

DL lay claim to the controls of the game early, taking a 33-13 lead at halftime. Forward Corey Lof had nine points in the first 18 minutes, while Jordanne Even added seven, including a three-pointer.

W-DC wouldn't even sniff to within 15 points as the Lakers ripped off a dominating second half, outscoring the Wolverines 40-19. Even drained two more three's on her way to a game-high 17 points.

Lof added a rare three-pointer herself as she finished with 15 points. Forward Betsy Hutchinson hit for double digits with 11 points and point guard Hallie Hoganson contributed 12.

The Lakers will look to add to their Mid-State lead with a home game against Staples-Motley Friday at 7:30 p.m.
