Defense to see grand jury testimony

A district judge has ordered that Detroit Lakes Superintendent Mark Adams will be granted access to grand jury testimony, but is not entitled to a word-for-word transcript of the grand jury proceedings that resulted in felony first- and third-degree assault charges being filed against him last month.

District Judge Mark Hansen also ordered that Adams be provided with a copy of the instructions that were given to the grand jury by the county attorney. A pretrial hearing is set for 2:30 p.m. Jan. 8 before District Judge Jack Pearson, according to the court administrator's office.

Jury trial is set for 9 a.m. Jan. 23.

Adams is represented by Minneapolis defense attorney Peter B. Wold.
