Cory I. Orvik, 51, of Perham, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 19, 2007, at MeritCare Medical Center in Fargo.
Cory Irvin Orvik, the son of Irvin and Olive Orvik, was born May 20, 1956 in Bagley, Minn., where he grew up and attended school. He was a 1975 graduate of Bagley High School. Cory retired from the Minnesota National Guard, Bemidji 2nd 136 Raging Bulls after 29 years of dedicated active duty. Cory was involved in numerous volunteer activities including the Jaycees, Police Reserve, Dent American Legion, church duties, the Patriot Guard Riders, and many, many more.
Cory is survived by his wife, Mary Orvik of Perham; children, Amy (Marlo) Bannor of Fargo, Stacy (Derrick) Ness and Brady (Amanda) Orvik, both of Bemidji, Joel (Missy) Smith, Jason (Lisa) Smith, Jeremy Smith and Jacob (Kellie Dodds) Smith, all of Perham; nine grandchildren, whom he loved more than anything; sisters, Charlotte Rongstad of Bemidji and Linda Neuenfeldt of Linden, Mich.; a brother, Kyle (Maureen) Orvik of Lino Lakes, Minn.; as well as many nieces, nephews, honorary grandchildren and a large extended family. His parents preceded him in death.
Cory will be dearly missed by many, many people as he had touched so many lives.
Visitation was scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, July 22, at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to funeral services at the church on Monday.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, July 23, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Perham, with the Rev. Joe Herzing officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Henry's Catholic School, Perham, or a charity of the donor's choice. Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, is providing arrangements. Online tributes may be posted at the Web site, schoenebergerfuneralhome.com.
