Local man faces felony drug charges

Mark Patrick Leendertsen, 28, of 1257 Summit Ave., Detroit Lakes has been charged in Becker County District Court with two counts of felony fifth-degree controlled substance crime.

On Dec. 17 he allegedly called White Drug and pretended to be Dr. Larry Goldstein ordering a prescription of 20 Vicodin tablets, a painkiller that Leendertsen allegedly filled and picked up the same day.

The next day, he allegedly attempted to do the same thing at the Kmart pharmacy. Employees there grew suspicious and called Dr. Goldstein, who told them he hadn't authorized the prescription.

When Leendertsen went to Kmart to pick up the Vicodin, he allegedly saw a police officer waiting there and left. He came back the next day, asked for the drugs, and was told they weren't ready. He never came back for the prescription, according to court records.

On Feb. 6, he allegedly tried to phone in a fake prescription at White Drug again, and was arrested when he went in to pick up the 20 Vicodin tablets.

On Feb. 7 an order of detention was signed by District Judge Lisa Borgen, who set his next court date for Feb. 19.
