Boy Scout fund-raiser
Boy Scout Troop 690 hosts a sit down turkey dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Frazee Event Center. Adults are $7, and children 8 and under are $4. To go meals are available. There will also be a silent auction and raffle.
Swedish Easter fun
The Swedish Cultural Heritage Society invites you to put a little Swedish in your Easter traditions this year. Come with your children or grandchildren to the Children's Museum at Yunker's Farm, Fargo, from 1 to 5 p.m., where there'll be arts and crafts that are traditional in Sweden. The Children's Museum is located at 1201 28th Avenue North, Fargo.
Lakes Figure Skating
Lakes Figure Skating presents "Movie Classics on Ice" at 2:30 p.m. in the DL Arena. Adults are $4 and students are $2.
The American Legion Auxiliary serves a build your own omelet, French toast or pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Music scholarship concert
The Detroit Lakes School Music Department presents a Scholarship Concert at 7 p.m. in the George Simson Middle School Auditorium. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children in grades K-12. Proceeds from the concert will provide scholarship money to students who are pursuing degrees in music education. Performers include Doc & The Scrubs, Roosevelt 4th Grade, Middle School Girls and Boys Ensembles, Laker Singers and Laker Jazz Band.
Sons of Norway
Sons of Norway - Vikingland Lodge No. 495 meets at 6 p.m. for a chili dump meal before meeting. Everyone is to bring a small container of chili to be dumped together in a large roaster. Cost is $3. Program is foreign exchange students attending Detroit Lakes High School.
Roosevelt treasure show
"Teddy Roosevelt and the Treasure of Ursa Major," at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the Historic Holmes Theatre, is perfect for children in grades 4-8 and adults as well. In this special project with the White House Historical Association, the Kennedy Center imagines what life was like for the children of one of our nation's greatest presidents -- Theodore Roosevelt. Holmes Cabaret Night
Unwind after a long day at work with cocktails, appetizers and exceptional musical performance by folk singer David Stoddard from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Holmes Theatre with Cabaret Night. Stoddard has recorded five original CDs, has won awards at folk festivals from Minnesota to Florida, and has been compared to greats like John Prine and Lyle Lovett.

Lakes Learning, the Adult Education component of the Detroit Lakes School District, holds official GED testing on March 18 and 19 in the Lincoln Education Center from 1-4 p.m. It is possible to complete all the five tests during this two day testing, and be qualified to participate in the 2008 GED graduating class. Call 847-4418 to pre-register. A student must have taken the practice tests before registering to take the actual GED tests.

GED hours, testing
Lakes Learning, the Adult Education and GED component of School District 22, is open Monday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Lincoln Education Center at 204 East Willow in Detroit Lakes. Actual GED testing is on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. Must pre-register before taking these tests. For more info, call 847-4418.
The Detroit Lakes Library hosts reading with a therapy dog on Thursdays from 3:30-5 p.m. Call 847-2168 to sign up for a time. This is a good time for children to practice their reading skills by reading to a pet.
St. Mary's EMS offers CPR training on a regular basis beginning in October. It is open to the public for beginners or a refresher course. The full class meets the second and third Tuesday of each month, and cost is $50. The refresher course is the third Tuesday of each month, and cost is $30.
