Frazee man sentenced for fleeing peace officer in motor vehicle
Thomas Joseph Eppler, 22, of 109 West Maple Street, Frazee has been sentenced in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of fleeing a peace officer.
On June 30, 2006, a deputy observed a brown passenger car without front license plates go by on County Road 29.
The deputy followed and observed there was no rear license plate, either. The driver, Eppler, led the deputy on a high speed chase on County Road 29 and Wannigan Road before abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot. Passengers left behind identified him as the driver, according to court records.
At the time, he was wanted for first-degree burglary in Otter Tail County.
On Thursday, he was sentenced by District Judge Mark Hansen to a year and a day in prison, execution of sentence stayed three years. He was placed on supervised probation and ordered to serve 120 days in jail. He was granted credit for time served, which means his sentence is completed. He was fined $1,000 plus court fees.
