DLHS Choir Concert is Monday
On Monday. the Detroit Lakes High School Choral Department will present the Ninth Grade Choir, Varsity Choir, Concert Choir and Laker Singers in their annual spring concert.
The program will feature a 48-minute choral medley entitled "100 Years of Broadway: A Choral Revue," arranged by Mac Huff.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the George Simson Auditorium at the Detroit Lakes Middle School. It is free and open to the public.
"100 Years of Broadway" was put together as an ultimate collection of music from the Broadway stage. The breadth and scope of this particular arrangement is unprecedented in choral music. Never before have so many Broadway classics been found in one revue.
Music of the Broadway stage translates extremely well into music education and choral formats. Much of the music that will be performed in concert was originally written for the chorus or was created with simple staging in mind.
All of the music is taken from major songs from the past 100 years and represents an important historical period, a significant style of song or a prominent composer.
