Extension has Peddling your Pickles Safely II workshop

Peddling Your Pickles Safely II is an advanced workshop with in-depth information for those interested in learning about the safe home production and sale of home canned acidified foods at farmers' markets or community events.

If you are currently processing and selling home canned pickles, salsas, fruits or pickled vegetables or have experience in home canning and are thinking about marketing your product, this workshop is for you.

The workshop will address the operational guidelines for selling home canned foods in Minnesota, acid levels of produce, hands-on testing of product with a pH meter, labeling, kitchen sanitation and more.

The workshop will be held on Monday, July 14, from 1-5 p.m. in the Waite Park Community Park Pavilion in Waite Park, just west of St. Cloud.

The program is sponsored by the University of Minnesota Extension, Minnesota Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association (MFVGA), and the USDA-Risk Management Agency.

Conducting the workshop will be U of M Extension educators in food science. Registration fee is $25.
